Sadly far too many reviewers seem to be quite ignorant about the very hardware they are reviewing. When they give a CPU review, they should be pointing out the memory speeds per the CPU spec list. I also blame product reviewers for part of the confusion. Tho the CPU vendors are not blameless, when they are recommending memory speeds above the CPU specs. The CPU vendors have ram speed specs in their data sheets and often on their product pages.most consumers never bother looking at these specs, they just complain when their computer cant hit the speed on the memory package, a speed that is above the CPU spec. I also assign them most, but not all of the blame, for the whole MT/s vs MHZ confusion, the whole double MHZ instead of actual MHZ confusion. I've asked them to identify modules before and they have not answered that simple question. They often do not distinguish when a memory stick is single or dual rank. Of the hardware vendors i blame the memory vendors the most. While its a complex topic, that does not excuse some of the confusion sown by hardware vendors.
I don't like it either, but some of it is unavoidable, how CPUs work with memory is a complex topic, certainly goes beyond just having memory running at some mhz rate.
